Pensée conceptuelle et troubles visuels chez l’enfant atteint d’infirmité motrice cérébrale

Résumé

Cerebral palsy is frequently linked with visuo-spatial impairment, oculomotricity disorders and apraxia. This clinical pattern involve learning disabilities. However, children with cerebral palsy show abilities to support some of their deficits. The aim of this study is to assess the role of the visual impairment in tests of conceptualization and determine the sensibility of the tests about this kind of disorders. Results show that the development of conceptual thought meet an obstacle near the age of 9 or 10 years old. The children with visuo-spatial impairment are able to elicit strategies of compensation using verbal material. Finally, we think that learning and intellectual disabilities are linked to the situation of handicap and not only a result of the cerebral injury.
