              <p>Homogenization and multiscale methods are widely studied in the electromagnetic field computation community for their ability to enable the numerical modelling of heterogeneous materials such as coils or magnetic cores made of laminations or granular or composite materials. Among all existing approaches, the heterogeneous multiscale method (HMM) holds the promise to be general and cheap when scale separation hypotheses are respected. But to the best of our knowledge, this method was not used on 3D nonlinear magnetoquasistatic (MQS) problems.n this paper, we present new results of homogenization on a 3D transient nonlinear MQS problem, using HMM and time stepping with a B-conforming formulation. The reference problem is difficult to solve on the full geometry of a composite material due to the large number of unknowns, time steps and nonlinear iterations involved. An additional difficulty is to make the weakly coupled multiscale equations converge. We show that at certain frequencies, the magnetization of the material due to the eddy currents is not negligible in the homogenized magnetic law. Therefore the previously developed method to deal with significant eddy currents magnetization in B-conforming formulation is necessary.</p>
