Knowledge formalization based on NeOn methodology for building renovation domain: Application to the IsoBIM project
Résumé
The introduction of semantic technologies to the construction field has been explored many times over the last few years. However, building renovation tends to be overlooked when talking about advancements in construction. Thus, handling of information of renovation projects is still a persistent problem. Moreover, the construction field is suffering from major methodological and technological problems resulting from the implementation of semantic web technologies, such as lack of interoperability, lack of automatic knowledge retrieval, lack of automatic regulation checking, and the most critical issue lack of renovation knowledge formalization, this last topic is the most crucial since, in order to express knowledge and to make it computable, some sort of formalism is necessary. Therefore, this paper proposes an approach to formalize knowledge in the renovation domain based on the NeOn methodology in order to assist with the process of building renovation by exterior insulation in BIM environment.
