Abstract

The goal of this research is to investigate microwaves penetration depth through polymorphic biological tissues. This study aims to improve an existing sensor based on a Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) structure, designed to differentiate carotid artery atherosclerotic plaques. Multilayered animal tissues (skin, fat, muscle) are studied to characterize and simulate the neck composition, where the carotid plaque is localized.
