Abstract

This book review presented on June 13, 2019 at ECAS in Edinburgh during a book launch session organized by Joanna Allan. The author completed a Master’s thesis on gender representations in the nationalist discourses of the Polisario Front in 2008 at the University of Leeds. After five years working in NGOs, she returned to Leeds’ Department of Hispanic Studies to start a PhD on gender and resistance in Western Sahara and Equatorial Guinea, which she completed in 2016. This book is the result of her doctoral thesis. Joanna Allan is currently working at Northumbria’s Centre for International Development.
