Physical insight into the behaviour of Taylor bubbles

Résumé

The behaviour of Taylor bubbles for upward and downward flow is presented from a plane numerical simulation and a laboratory experiment in tube. The symmetry breaking is put in evidence for downward flow. The role of the radius of curvature at the tip of the bubble is highlighted.
