A method of statistical reconstruction of the fractures network for numerical studies of rock foundations
Résumé
For the design of foundations on rock, the part of numerical modeling becomes essential with the increase in complexity of construction works, especially when the structure of the rock mass is involved. The lack of information on rock discontinuities makes it difficult to reach enough precision in modeling.
Thus, we have to resort to a stochastic approach of fractures from borehole data, here gathered in a viaduct project. To illustrate the differences between two approaches, we present a numerical study of the deformation of the rock around a foundation with a continuous modeling and a discontinuous modeling.
