The Best, The Requested, and The Default Non-Binary LDPC Decoding Algorithm

Résumé

This paper presents a different vision of the Non-Binary LDPC decoding algorithm. So far, state-of-the-art decoders are mainly focused on the reduction of the check node processing complexity, with a potential side effect on the size of the messages that are exchanged in the iterative decoder. However, it is possible to take a different approach and consider the reduction of the message size as the main objective. The paper presents "the Best, the Requested and the Default" algorithm that shrinks dramatically the communication load between the variable nodes and check nodes.
