Filming and Describing an Individual
Résumé
Regarding historicity and temporality as structural dimensions of existence, my micro-anthropological perspective considers the continuity of existence not only as a succession of moments of presence and action, but also draws attention to what remains constant, the continuity in an individual’s lifespan. To write of existence in this way, I have developed the existence-specific approach inspired by video shadowing, elicitation interview and self-confrontation methods. It consists in following an individual by filming them for at least one day before returning with them in detail to the audiovisual artefacts. I hypothesize that the restitution of continuous temporal fragments of existence makes it possible to reconnect with an experience of self, moment by moment.
