Di-(2-ethylhexyl) Adipate and Peroxisome Proliferation: Identification of Proximate Peroxisomal Proliferator In Vivo and In Vitro

Résumé

Di-(2-ethylhexyl) adipate (DEHA), a plasticizer used in the manufacture of polyvinyl chloride plastics products, has been shown to be a hepatic peroxisome proliferator for rodents (Moody et al. 1978, 1982). Long-term feeding experiments performed by the National Toxicology Program (NTP, 1982) found DEHA to be carcinogenic in female B6C3F1 mice and probably carcinogenic in male B6C3F1 mice. Unter certain conditions, DEHA may migrate from the plastic into lipophilic surroundings; hence a potential risk for human exists.
