Sinfree Makoni : une nouvelle ontologie du langage
Résumé
This informal interview with Sinfree Makoni extends a discussion which has already started in March 2021 by videoconference. In the 1990s, Sinfree Makoni questions the very notion of language in his research. He considers that the conception of language in Africa in terms of indigenous languages is the result of the colonial projection of a Western concept on a communicative reality which is radically different. Makoni defends the idea that African languages are the result of European academic’s productions. He scrutinizes the very foundations of linguistics which ignore the history of language practices in Africa, whose heterogeneous dimension (constitutive of language) is never apprehended. This interview is an open discussion with Sinfree Makoni in which we aim to shed new light on the processes of reinvention and apprehension of language practices in their heterogeneity.
