This paper is a concise overview of Bassari, an Atlantic language spoken in the borderland between Senegal and Guinea. Section 1: presentation of the sociolinguistic status of Bassari, Section 2: main phonological and tonological characteristics, as well as the syllabic structure, Section 3: the different parts of speech (and the derivational processes), Section 4: the noun phrase and the noun class system, Section 5: the verbal system Section 6: main features of the syntax of simple clauses.
