« Expériences en philosophie morale dans le roman libertin du dix-huitième siècle »
Résumé
Eighteenth century novels can often be read as an attempt of the narrative philosophy in a time of secularization of moral norms. Libertine novels, which describe attitudes breaking out with official moral norms and assuring them in human nature, characterize the norms, which encourage, and contrast with, the reader to think in a critical way. This paper explores different aspects of this fictional rethinking of moral norms, by focusing on different examples of the clandestine literature.
