Study of a microsystem based on a nitinol wire for biomedical applications; characterization in air and in a liquid medium

Résumé

In this work, the steering system of a micro-robot developed by Robeauté is presented. This microsystem is based on a shape memory alloy (SMA) actuator, which is a biocompatible and non-ferromagnetic material increasingly used in the medical world. Thus, it also has an important volume density of force allowing its exploitation for the mechanical actuation of a passive microstructure. The originality of this work is to study the performances in force, displacement and temperature of a nitinol wire, in air and in a liquid medium as a preliminary test before entering a deformable environment like the real material composing the brain.
