The New Physical Territories of Digital Activity
Résumé
The spread of digital tools is considerably reshaping the spatio‐temporal boundaries of work and is contributing to the emergence of a new organizational model that values autonomy, trust and communication. This chapter questions the outlines and issues related to space as an object of research and action for work psychologists. It expands on the links between the transformation of workspaces and the transformation of work and employment, to highlight the articulations between organization and space. The chapter characterizes the underlying model of the subject and, as a corollary, the model of activity, which guide the design and organization of these new flexible workspaces in order to highlight their psychological and social implications. It reports on research carried out within the IT subsidiary of a major French group, the results of which have been presented elsewhere. Finally, the chapter returns to the intervention of the work psychologist in the context of the transformation of workspaces.
