Reclaimed Wastewater Reuse in Viticulture: Social and Physical Singularities of Water
Résumé
The aim of this abstract is to describe the appropriation of vineyard irrigation using reclaimed wastewater in two pilot demonstrators located in south of France. According to survey results, the farmers do not show any hesitation about the water quality. In addition, the agricultural practices do not change with in both demonstrators. However, the small amount of reclaimed wastewater available from treatment plants for irrigation requires farmers to learn rapidly how to share the water and to control the irrigation organization precisely. The transfer of management to water users’ associations is complicated by the constraints of safe treatment water, its monitoring and the additional costs involved.
