Carcasses exploitation techniques, a mean to understand the driving force of Stone Age subsistence

Résumé

Taking into account several northeuropean bone and antler industries dated to the transition Late Glacial-Holocene (14-6th millennia Cal BC), we will explore techniques and methods used to exploit anatomical parts of large mammals with relation their destination, for the industry and/or consumption. As it will appear, global chaîne opératoire of animal exploitation is an extraordinary mean as for interpreting past-human behaviour, not only to highlight conceptions in material production, here from hard organic materials, but also to emphasize relationships between the hunter and his prey, including in their symbolic depth.
