On the Validity of the Asymptotic Near-Ground Propagation Model of Hertzian Dipole for Finite-Length Dipole Antennas

Résumé

This paper deals with the near-ground propagation of electromagnetic waves, when the emitting antenna is a finite length dipole, rather than an elementary one. The existing propagation model for an elementary Hertzian dipole is extended to a realistic case by assuming a known current distribution over the finite-length dipole. Validation of the theoretical models by an electromagnetic simulator (NEC2d) is also presented in this article.
