Theory and Practice or Theoreticians and Practitioners?
The relationship between theory and practice is an enduring debate in translation studies and goes back to a philosophical debate originated in Antiquity, in which not only notions but also people are involved, translators and interpreters on the one hand, some of whom will be alluded to and translation academics on the other hand, whose stances may be more diversified than is apparently taken for granted. Their mutual attitudes and their main arguments are tackled in this article.
