Where in the world is Ukraine? Confronting Russian and European representations of Ukraine
Résumé
This paper aims to confront the position of Ukraine on world cognitive maps of European and Russian students obtained from a survey made in 2009-10 with strategic narratives of European Union and Russia of the same period in a high and low geopolitics confrontation perspective. Its objective is to check in which world region Ukraine is included by the students in a context of the Ukrainian crisis where officials from both side consider Ukraine either as a close partner European Union or a part of Russia. It appears that students from both regions strongly considered Ukraine a part of the European space that questions the efficiency of Russian strategic narratives.
