Competency Portfolio Assessment guidelines

Résumé

This document is an intellectual production of the Erasmus+ XP2P project: "Crossing borders: Peer-to-Peer Education in Mechatronics" (09/2019-08/2022). It describes the fundamental guidelines behind the assessment methodology within the XP2P-Project. The first chapter gives an overview of the use of (E-)portfolios in higher education. The idea of assessment by an eportfolio of competences is not new, but in the field of engineering (Mechatronics) it is not yet widespread. The second chapter describes different didactic approaches on the use of e-portfolios: product-oriented portfolios and process-oriented portfolios offer different possibilities and challenges with respect to e.g. formative and summative assessment. Another reason for guiding students to develop e-portfolios may be for marketing reasons (e.g. artists, but it may as well be beneficial for engineering students) The third chapter gives a detailed overview of how e-portfolios were structured in the modules within the XP2P-project to enable assessment. Different practices at USMB, UTCN and HSKL are given. The chapter ends with a reference table to link skills (Learning, Self-Assessment, Analytical Thinking, Digital skills, Feedback, Communication, Project Management, Research) to essential components for assessment, expectations and possible evidence in the e-portfolio. The eportfolio of competences was structured for the specific reporting needs in the field of engineering (especially in Mechatronics) and was implemented in our respective learning platforms. This facilitates transferability to other modules and/or to other courses. The document will be also available in French, German and Romanian version from the project website: https://xp2p-project.eu/ Project Ref.: 2019-1-FR01-KA203-062208
