Elasticity of a swollen hexagonal phase

Résumé

The systems under study are doped hexagonal phases, realized by incorporating solid magnetic particles of nanometric size inside the nonpolar cylinders of a swollen lyotropic hexagonal phase. The elasticity of these swollen hybrid systems is explored via the determination of a penetration length and the evaluation of the two elastic constants for the deformation of the triangular lattice of cylinders. We show that the solid particles induce a hardening of the hybrid phase and then discuss the elastic constants of swollen hexagonal phases in comparison with conventional non swollen hexagonal phases and swollen lamellar phases.
