Massive star forming regions in the Magellanic Clouds: results from recent observations

Résumé

During the last few years, we have gathered optical and near-infrared data from various massive star forming regions of the Magellanic Clouds searching for "blobs", which are high excitation Hii regions that are a particular type of Hii regions in the Magellanic Clouds. Although a detailed scheme of massive star formation still has to be sketched, these regions are believed to bear very interesting information concerning the formation of this kind of stars. Our goal is to characterize the Magellanic "blobs" themselves, as well as their environment. Due to their small typical size of ~1--5 pc, the observation of "blobs" at the distance of the Magellanic Clouds requires high angular resolution. Therefore we have used the HST and large ground-based telescopes, NTT and VLT, to study various aspects of objects and their environments. We will present our most recent results in this field.
