CONGO, a physical and dynamical model for comets calibrated on OSIRIS/ROSETTA data

Résumé

The gravitational orbit of a comet is affected by the sublimation of water molecules by the nucleus when the comet approaches perihelion. This outgassing triggers non-gravitational forces (NGF) that significantly modifies the orbit of the comet. These non-gravitational forces are a huge source of informations concerning the physical parameter of the comet (activity, mass, spin axis). Thanks to the physical and dynamical model CONGO (COmetary Non-Gravitational Orbits), it is possible to determine these parameters for periodic comet. In this presentation, we will show how the model was calibrated thanks to the ROSETTA data and the application on sevral comets.
