Correlation analysis of factors impacting health product consumption in French hospitals
Résumé
Estimating health product needs is still a challenge for hospitals. In order to obtain effective prediction models, it is first necessary to identify the factors that influence consumption of these products. This work analyzes the relevant factors that are correlated with drug consumption in the French hospitals' context. Twelve relevant factors from literature and survey are selected using a correlation analysis with the quantity of consumption, statistically significant on 41 of the 45 common drugs selected from 6 hospitals. These results should allow to set up prediction methods in order to dimension and manage pharmaceutical stocks in hospitals. Thus, for hospital managers and purchasers of pharmaceutical products, this work could contribute as decision-making tool and, by analogy, for the industrial world.
