Tensions between positivisms and metaphysics of texts

Tensions entre positivismes et métaphysique des textes

Georgeta Cislaru

Résumé

This analysis articulates three viewpoints on the text: that of the theoretical and methodological frameworks that have traditionally housed the study of the text, that of the work on the text that has been promoted by the journal Pratiques over the years, and that of the study of the textualization process, which occupies an increasingly important place in the author’s work. Weaves are thus organized around three axes of reflection, dealing with the definition of the text and the objectives of text linguistics, the text as a teach/learning object, and textualization as a production process. First of all, we are reminded of the difficulties involved in defining the text, sometimes seen as an artefact or abstract object, sometimes as a “text effect”, sometimes as an empirical object to be analysed, and sometimes as a unit of meaning. The point of view in production, although often assimilated to psycholinguistic approaches, has always accompanied linguistic research on the text, particularly in the various works published by the journal Pratiques. The article shows how, by grasping the dynamics of textualization, genetic and processual approaches shift the boundaries of textuality by reinterrogating the linguistic features of the text and the strategies for constructing meaning.
