”Not working … Networking!” : Scripting and shaping conviviality in trade events
Résumé
This chapter is based on the observation of professional fairs and festivals in the fields of gastronomy, funerals, television productions and weddings, between 2019 and 2020. It aims to enhance the field of field-configuring events studies through a sociotechnical approach. We postulate that these events are matching devices that carry "scripts". This concept contributes to the existing literature in two ways. On the one hand, it allows us to identify scripts of conviviality, designed by the organizers for the event's users. On the other hand, it allows us to better qualify the configuring ambition of the events, as a work of building up and maintain professional communities
