What User Interface Tools are needed for Safety Critical Interactive Systems?

Résumé

This position paper presents a set of requirements for user interface tools for the specific domain of safety critical systems. This application domain features specific constraints that should be addressed by the research community as most command and control systems are nowadays embedding more and more sophisticated interaction techniques. In addition to the issues raised by more 'classical' domains, two main issues have to be dealt with: scalability i.e. capability for the tool to deal with large interactive systems and reliability i.e. the capability for the tools to produce reliable interactive systems.
