Nanostructured conjugated polymer for solar cell applications

Résumé

The morphology of the active layer of an all-organic photovoltaic cell plays a main role in the efficiency and performance of the cell. The properties of conjugated polymers(acceptors and donors) can be tuned through modification of the structure and incorporation of different functional moieties. This chapter focused on developed chemical and physical strategies to obtain the desired nanostructuration for optimal efficiency. We will first describe the structures based on copolymers, and polymer nanowire, nanoparticle or nanofiber obtained bychemical way. Secondly, we will focus on physical strategies such as template method, miniemulsion, microemulsion, the use of porous inorganic materials and electropolymerization method of conjugated polymer including polythiophene, polycarbazole or polytriphenylamine. The design strategies, advantages, andlimitations of nanostructured conjugated polymers are further discussed in eachsection.
