Craters in Maps given by Spaceborne Digital Elevation Models
Résumé
In the proposed discussion we stress the possibility to use maps from Spaceborne Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) to analyse the topography of craters or crater-like structures. The Digital Elevation Model here used is that proposed by Yamazaki, Ikeshima, Tawatari, Yamaguchi, O'Loughlin, Neal, Sampson, Kanae and Bates, in the Geophysical Research Letters, 2017, and implemented at the web site itch .topographic-map.com. Crater-like structures can be observed in visible satellite images, but elevation profiles are fundamental to understand their geological nature. Here we will show that the DEM maps are able to easily evidence the elevation features, giving the possibility of a first remote analysis of them.
