Automatic recognition of historical handwritten parish records

French parish registers are handwritten books in which local religious ceremonies were recorded from the 16th century onward. These documents are especially useful to genealogists because they contain local information on births, marriages and deaths. Automatic information extraction would allow genealogists to index and search parish registers by content.
