Development of a patch antenna based on a Polyaniline/Carbon coated Cobalt composite

Résumé

In this study, a patch antenna including a thick film made of a composite material based on Polyaniline (PANI) and Carbon coated Cobalt (CCo) is investigated. Conception, simulation, realization and characterization steps are presented. The morphology of the obtained composite was studied via scanning electron microscopy. The conductive polymer (PANI/CCo) fabricated has a conductivity of 7500 S/m. The antenna is designed to operate at the frequency of 4.5 GHz and the dielectric substrate used is Rogers RT/Duroid® 5870. A good agreement is observed between measurements and simulation data. The experimental results show an antenna gain of 4.6 dB for a PANI/CCo film thickness of 70 μm. © 2016 European Association of Antennas and Propagation.
