Random-coefficient pure states and statistical mixtures
Résumé
Within the field of quantum information processing, the development of Blind Quantum Source Separation and Blind Quantum Process Tomography has led, within the formalism of the Hilbert space, to the introduction of the concept of a random-coefficient pure state. This paper describes an experimental situation necessitating its introduction. Links between a random-coefficient pure state and a statistical operator {̊h̊o̊}̊ are established. The meaning of these links is dependent upon the meaning given to {̊h̊o̊}̊, and the two usual ways for introducing the {̊h̊o̊}̊ concept are first examined. The interest of the random-coefficient pure states is briefly introduced.
