Functionalization of Cellulose to Improve its Hydrophilization

Résumé

The market for cellulose derivatives is currently growing, of course because of their bio-based origin, but also of original fibres properties. In particular, the creation of hydrophilic polar functional groups on cellulose backbone gives absorbent properties which can find applications in medical and hygiene fields (absorbent products such as wound dressings, compresses, etc.), for dissolving pulps. One of the key points in the formation of these cellulose-based products is to use selective reactions able to optimize the formation of hydrophilic functional groups and their hydrophilization
