Un écrivain ‘pop’ égyptien: Ahmad Murad

Résumé

This chapter provides a detailed account of the trajectory of Aḥmad Murād (b. 1978), currently Egypt’s best-selling novelist and a successful screenwriter as well. After presenting his six novels published to date and making an attempt at evaluating their audience and reception, it analyses the innovative means Murād makes use of in building up his position as a popular writer and finally discusses his seemingly little interest in the usual forms of literary recognition, a quite exceptional position within the Egyptian literary scene.
