Résumé
John Lydus's book On the Months is a late antique work that has survived only in excerpts. The present article scrutinises some of the fragments attributed to this work and looks closely at three manuscripts containing Lydian excerpts, namely Ang. gr. 29, Par. gr. 2381, and Scorial. .III.11. It will be shown that the Scorialensis contains two verbal quotations of members of Plotinus's Neoplatonic circle, Aquilinus and Amelius, that have been ignored by the previous editor Richard Wünsch. The discussion of the textual transmission leads to a new text of the excerpts in question (Lydus, De mensibus 3,8; 3,12; 4,7).
