Immigration Federalism: Towards a Broader, Comparative and Subnational Research Agenda
Résumé
SUMMARY: This article is a research note on immigration federalism, where I encourage scholars interested in federalism to look into immigration politics and policies and to develop a broader, comparative and subnational research agenda. I argue that, with the growing politicization of immigration and the tensions that can exist inside each federation regarding the distribution of responsibilities in immigration policy, there is no doubt that immigration federalism will become a central issue in many federal states.
