On the occasion of the paperback reprint of Hobbes and the Omnipotence of God (CNRS Editions, series: Biblis), the afterword confronts the book's thesis with what two sociologists, Pierre Bourdieu and Bruno Latour, have to say about the theology of the state. It also responds to Quentin Skinner's objection, addressed to Howard Warrender, that Hobbes was not concerned, in writing Leviathan, with establishing a theological basis for the obligation of subjects to obey.
