Acoustic shear waves in colloidal crystals

Résumé

At low frequencies (ω ⪝ 104 Hz), we predict that acoustic shear waves should propagate in ordered suspensions of charged latex spheres. Typical values of the sound velocity and damping length are, respectively, 10 and 20 cm sec for ω ≅ 102 Hz.
