When the Strength of Social Norm impacts Induced-Hypocrisy Effect: Application to Discrimination Prevention

Résumé

The induced hypocrisy (IH) paradigm is based on an advocacy for a pro-social norm (SN) and a past transgressions recall. This inconsistency leads people to change their acts as per the SN. Although some moderating variables have been deepened, SN role has not been examined, yet. Applied to discrimination prevention, this study shows a reinforced SN increases IH effect compared to a weakened SN.
