Editorial : Driver Distraction and Inattention: Engagement duringmanual, assisted, and automated driving modes.
Résumé
We are in an era of mobility transformation [1]. Pervasive personal communication technologies and in-vehicle digitalisation already impacts daily life, while vehicle automation is on the cusp of widespread impact. Consequently, there is a critical need to understand distraction and the limits of attention in many modes of transportation - both in-vehicle modes (manual-, assisted-, and automated driving) and in new forms of transportation - as they all are affected by digitalisation and limits of attention. Distracted driving has long been a contributor to motor vehicle crashes [2], and is flourishing in these new digitalised mobility environments [3].
