Experimental investigation of wall-pressure fluctuations on a full-scale business jet

Résumé

In cruise conditions, the velocity fluctuations through-out the turbulent boundary layer induce wall-pressure fluc-tuations on the fuselage, which contribute to a large partof cockpit and cabin noise. Flight tests are regularly per-formed by airplane manufacturers but the complexity andthe cost of such tests usually make it difficult to extractdetailed informations under well-controlled conditions.Inthe framework of Cleansky 2 H2020 CANOBLE Project,an experiment was conducted to analyze cockpit and cabinnoise on a full-scale fuselage of a Dassault Aviation busi-ness jet, in an industrial-size wind tunnel. Boundary layerprofiles have been characterised by means of hot-wires. Anarray of hot films was also used for the analysis of wallshear stress. The local pressure gradients in the regions ofinterest were extracted using a network of 70 static pres-sure probes, all over the fuselage. Arrays of 128 digitalMEMS microphones, stuck onto the fuselage, served forthe measurement of the wall-pressure excitation. All theseresults should contribute in the derivation and validationofwall-pressure models.
