Résumé

As a part of my research, I am investigating what surfing means to individuals who define themselves as surfers. The qualitative survey I led a month in Madagascar allowed to grasp the complexity of a surfer’s identity construction and the ways individuals appropriate a globalised practice. Cultural geography and maritime anthropology are the research fields I focused on to apprehend the interactions between the respondents and their environments, and also with themselves.
