Le collège de l'an 2000 : philosophie et enseignements de la consultation de 1999 sur les collèges
Résumé
This article reports the objectives, the course and the outcomes of the advisory meeting about 'collèges' (comprehensive secondary schools) held in Spring 1999 under the chairmanship of S. Royal. Political considerations had an important impact on this meeting, but the various stages of a traditional sociological survey were followed so that 'results', in terms of actor's judgement on the contemporary 'collège', can be taken into account. It is possible to see the emergence of a consensus about some issues, like arrangement of school time or compensatory education for maladjusted students, but there are many controversies concerning streaming, paths uniformity and also schools autonomy, which is suspected of increasing inequalities.
