A formal approach for RDFizing semi-structured data

Abstract

Several approaches to facilitate the publication of data in compliance with RDF exists. However, the majority of them depends on mapping languages that have a steep learning curve and require knowledge of the languages' syntax and semantics in addition to the Semantic Web stack. While the remaining approaches are easier to use, they are not properly described, thus making it difficult to reproduce them. To tackle the latter issue, in this technical report, we thouroughly describe a semi-automatic approach to facilitate the generation of RDF data from semi-structured data. The strength of our approach lies in the ability to automatically generate customizable mappings from several ontologies without the need to have any prior knowledge of the ontologies.
