Special Issue on Multiphase and Turbulent Flows in Energy Engineering Applications

Abstract

This Special Issue predicting the behavior of fluid flow systems is important in many industries such as petroleum processing, aerospace and renewable energy, among others. In many such systems, the flow is multiphase with two or more fluids sharing an interface, which can deform and move according to the applied forces and constitutional laws. In practice, many of the concerned applications involve flow at high speeds. Examples include the injection of fuel from a jet nozzle and the transpiration of oil in pipelines. In such cases, the suspended phase can be affected not only by heat generation and transport, gravity, and their related factors but it can also be affected by turbulence in the domain. This makes it even more challenging to predict the behavior of such flow systems.
