GM Crops and Conventional or Organic Agriculture Coexistence in EU Regulation (Chapter 7)

Luc Bodiguel

Résumé

Crop freedom is just a principle, a legal fiction. Numerous scientific reports and policy documents have already shown that genetically modified, conventional, and organic crops cannot stay together in the same place. In this context, different ways might be followed: trying to escape from genetically modified organism legal definition, fight against genetically modified crops by legal or less legal means, trying to organize a new model of local governance for genetically modified zones, and overpass the debate giving to States members the power to prohibit genetically modified crops. All these ways will be considered in this paper.
