Interoperability between Publications, Reference Data and Visualisation Tools
Résumé
Astronomy research is becoming more and more inter-connected, and there is a high expectation for our publications, reference data and tools to be interoperable. Publications are the hard earned final results of scientific endeavour, and technology allows us to enable publications as useable resources, going beyond their traditional role as a readable document. There is strong demand for simple access to the data associated with publications, and that links and references in publications are strongly connected to online resources, and are useable in visualisation tools. We highlight the capabilities of the CDS reference services for interoperability between the reference data obtained from publications, the connections between Journal and literature services, and combination of these data and information in Aladin and other CDS services.
