Constrained Bundle Adjustment Applied to Wing 3D Reconstruction with Mechanical Limitations

Abstract

Aircraft certification procedures require the estimation ofwing deformation, which is a very challenging problem inphotogrammetry applications. Indeed, in real flight condi-tions with varying environment, 3D reconstruction is stronglydegraded. To cope with this issue, we propose to introduceprior knowledge about the wing mechanical limits in thephotogrammetry reconstruction method. These mechanicallimits are expressed as appropriate regularizations that areincluded into the classical bundle adjustment step. The pro-posed approach is evaluated using data acquired on a realaircraft yielding promising results.
