Information and Media Education (IME) in the evolving digital context
Résumé
This paper draws on the second part (qualitative phase) of an ongoing research on Information and Media Education (IME), in France. In the post-attack context, this education is regarded as a necessity. Recent official documents introduced interdisciplinary practical teachings, focusing on digital learning and linking information-communication and citizenship; they encourage creating a media in each school, and clearly refer to information and communication sciences. In this context, many innovative devices are developing such as web radio, Wikipedia workshops, booktrailing, hackathons. They offer opportunities for students being involved in authentic experiences with information and media, developing their information culture, in a participative mode. After presenting the context(s) of the study, and defining the concept of “experience”, we question the potential of these experiences.
